Everything You Need to Know Before You See Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

The Fantastic Beasts series is a somewhat prequel to Harry Potter, the series takes place in the 1920’s and will stretch to the 1940’s. The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second installment in the series taking place in 1927. This film will center around Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) after he is approached by Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) about the rising threat of Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp). Before you see the movie, here are some things you need to know.

 

#1: Returning Cast

Fans of the original Fantastic Beasts will be happy to hear that many members of the original cast will be reprising their roles. Returning cast members include Katherine Waterston (Porpentina Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Carmen Ejogo (Seraphina Picquery), and Zoë Kravitz (Leta Lestrange).

#2: New Characters

Many new characters are going to be introduced in this film, here is a list of some interesting ones:

Nagini (Claudia Kim): Harry Potter fans beware, it’s the one and only Nagini, Voldemort’s beloved snake and Horcrux. In this movie, she will be portrayed as a troubled young Maledictus (someone with a blood curse) destined to turn into a snake.

Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner): Newt’s older and tougher brother, Theseus is a war hero and will be making his debut in this film.

Of course, one of the biggest surprises in new characters is Nicholas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky): An old and kooky alchemist who is famous for creating the philosopher’s stone and the elixir of life. Many Harry Potter fans will remember him from the first book.

 

#3: The Villains

As the name and description suggest, Grindelwald will be the main antagonist, but he is not alone. His dark right-hand woman by the name of Vinda Rosier (Poppy Corby-Tuech) will also be making an appearance. Together they will wreak havoc and attempt to take over both the wizarding, and muggle worlds.

 

#4: Release

This PG-13 film will be releasing on November 16th, 2018. Get your tickets as soon as possible because this movie is highly anticipated and may sell out.
