Fear of Clowns

Shelley Yang

Shelley Yang, 11th Grade, “Fear of Clowns,” alcohol markers. My clown piece was created as a part of my AP Art portfolio where I am exploring fear from the perspective of the feared. A lot of people fear clowns because of how the media has portrayed them in recent years. However, I found this a bit sad since before clowns were meant to be the goofy and fun being that would hand out balloons, juggle and make kids smile. Contrary to now, kids loved clowns. So I wanted to show that through this piece by how the clown is blowing out stars meant to symbolize love and happiness. For this piece I only used alcohol markers as they are my favorite medium.
