Spring Activities to Spring Back Into Warm Weather

Sophia Lee and Irene Lee

With spring right around the corner and the weather getting warmer,  it is important to get yourself outside, especially to get a breath of fresh air. There are a variety of activities you can do outside to make the most of this spring.

Picnic: A picnic is a great way to get outside and spend some time by yourself or with family and friends. Grab some food, a blanket and a book and head outside to a park to relax. A great place to have a picnic is Capitol Square, where there is lots of space and sometimes there can be live music during spring and summer.

Take a bike ride: This is definitely a fun option if you are a more energetic person and fast pace activities spark your interest. Riding your bike is a great way to get outside, and it is also great exercise. This is an activity you can do to socialize or do by yourself.

Go on a walk: Walking is another enjoyable spring activity that you can do by yourself or with friends. It can help clear your mind, which is important, especially during a busy week like the weeks leading up to AP exams and the end of the school year. A local trail, Pheasant Branch Conservancy is a great place to walk or bike.

Sports: Sports are an easy way to get outside and keep your body moving, and Middleton High School (MHS) offers many opportunities for students to get involved in athletics at all times of the year, including the spring.

There is a wide variety of spring sports that you can try out at MHS, some of which are no cut. No cut sports are a low-stakes way to try out something new. All the sports listed below have great teams where you can find lifelong friendships and make lasting memories.

  • Boys Lacrosse practice starts on March 6.
  • Track and Field has their first day of practice on March 6. The team has a relaxed no cut environment perfect for anyone who is looking to simply have fun.
  • Girls Lacrosse has their first day of tryouts on March 7.
  • Softball tryouts will be held March 13 and 14.
  • Baseball tryouts for pitchers and catchers start on March 13, but the rest of the positions begin tryouts on March 20.
  • Girls Soccer tryouts take place March 20 to the 24, with Saturday March 25 listed as a potential varsity tryout date.
  • Boys Tennis tryouts are March 28 and the 29. More specifics about tryouts is on the tennis website
  • Boys Golf tryouts will be held on April 3 through April 6 at Pleasant View Golf Course.

It is a great time to start sports this spring because it is important that you are moving around and taking advantage of the warm weather that is coming around. Every student at MHS has the opportunity to try out for these sports, whether it is competitively or just for fun. These sports are a great source of exercise and it allows you to go outside and have fun! If you want more information, you can go to the MHS sports website
