During my visits to Asia, I often saw various uses of scooters. People would ride with their children, stacks of cardboard, bags of groceries, and even street vendor merchandise. As a child, I was captivated by these individuals, constantly pondering what their lives entailed beyond their scooters.
In this artwork, I portray a man riding a scooter brimming with various snacks. Presumably, this man is on his way to work, where he works as a street vendor by selling these snacks. Street vending is a laborious occupation, demanding long hours of waiting and constant to-and-fro transport of goods. Despite the physical demands and instability, the man carries a genuine smile on his face. As someone fortunate to have parents with stable and comfortable jobs, I may never fully comprehend the hardships these individuals endure. Nevertheless, I find these people to be the most admirable because they value joy and purpose in life, regardless of their circumstances.
