The “My Room” project reflects my physical bedroom, creative journey, and myself. I’ve had the same bedroom for 14 years, yet the inside changes to reflect my evolution from a child to my late teens. The multiple mediums of “My Room” help depict this. As a child, I practiced drawing, first in pencil and later in pen and markers. As a teenager, I dabbled in 3D art, such as sculpture and ceramics. As an upperclassman in high school, I taught myself Blender and 3D modeling. The diverse versions through the mediums show the different phases of my artistic journey.
However, some elements remain constant in the project – the pink walls, night table, and bed. These essentials within “My Room” symbolize my core identity. Signifying that even as I grow, at the core, I am myself. “My Room” is a testament to my personal growth, creative journey, and identity. It’s a reminder that, no matter how much I change and mature, I will always be myself.
