In a remarkable display of hard work and dedication, Middleton High School’s HOSA (Future Health Professionals) had 117 members qualify for the state competition, setting a new state record.
HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). The organization aims to empower future healthcare professionals by providing opportunities for skill development, leadership training, and networking through the events.
In HOSA, competitions involve a wide variety of events designed to test students’ expertise and creativity in healthcare-related scenarios. These include knowledge tests covering topics like anatomy and pharmacology, skill demonstrations such as first aid/CPR and dental procedures, and health science events focusing on research and public health issues. Leadership events focus on leadership skills through activities like prepared speaking and parliamentary procedures, while team events promote collaboration in healthcare debates and community projects.
For years, Middleton’s chapter has showcased its excellence in the regional, state and national stages. With members competing across a wide spectrum of healthcare, exercise science and wellness events, Middleton HOSA has demonstrated a strong commitment to the healthcare field.
The 2024 State Competition is scheduled to take place in the Wisconsin Dells from April 14-16, 2024, bringing together students from schools across Wisconsin. We wish MHS HOSA the best of luck as they continue their journey to the state championship!
