Summer break is right around the corner, and as the school year draws to a close the senior class is getting ready to say goodbye. After they graduate on Sat., June 1, the class of 2024 will embark on the next chapter of their lives. Seniors have walked the same halls and sat through the same classes as each student will throughout their time at Middleton High School (MHS). In this article, seniors share what their four years have taught them, the memories they have made, and the people they are grateful for.
“Thank you teachers who have somewhat tolerated me. Thank you to the club advisors who reminded me about missed fees. Thank you band program for the great opportunities. Thank you BTS. To the underclassmen, just chill and have fun.” – Nathan Kwon
“Put yourself out there because you never know what opportunities are waiting for you.” – Ria Karthik
“This year’s been crazy, and I’ve been so involved in the school community. I think the senior class has bonded which has made it super fun, and it feels like we’re connected instead of different cliques. I feel like I really took initiative this year, and what I learned was to only take things that are good for you.
Don’t just listen to others’ advice, don’t just do what they say: you experience things yourself, and you answer your own questions. Because there’s going to be people who say stuff, then flip stuff around— that’s high school. You have to be true and honest to yourself. The number one person you can learn from is yourself.” – Haroon Shahzad
“Stay focused and committed to school work, but try not to miss out on the fun times! Those moments are what you will remember most looking back on high school memories” – Dima Llanos
“Be in the moment in high school. Some moments in high school won’t come back and if you don’t enjoy every moment then you won’t remember and cherish them.” – Natalie Feagan
“Thank you to everyone in all the activities I’m involved with. The memories we made will always be cherished.” – Netra Somasundaram
“Put your health first. Not taking care of yourself will do way more damage than failing a test or missing an assignment.” – Isha Chilukuri
“Work hard, have fun, enjoy your time here.” – Vivian Cressman
“Work hard in your classes, but also make sure you’re having fun; because you only get to go through it once!” – Gabi Tabone
“I would encourage future students to get involved in our school’s incredible fine arts department. It provides students with so many opportunities to either start their art journeys or improve upon existing skills. Whether your interests be in music performance, theater, or the visual arts, there is a place for everyone. Take advantage of these resources while they are available to you, and you’ll find yourself in a community of people who love to create just like you do.” – Keira Marckel
“The things you’re gonna remember about high school aren’t getting an A or the best grades, it’s going to be memories with the people you meet. So put yourself out there and have as many experiences as possible so you can have good stories to tell in the future.” – Harper Patenaude
“Don’t spend time on things that aren’t worth your energy – save that effort for the people and passions that truly matter to you.” – Julia Moriarty
“Make good connections with the adults and students around you because it makes high school a lot easier. Additionally, talking to other people and breaking out of your bubble makes life a lot more fun!” – Alexa Garber
“The teachers and the rigorous courses helped me become a better organized and prepared student. Also I want to highlight the many connections I made in various clubs and organizations that opened up my social skills making high school a great experience! These attributes helped me succeed now and hopefully beyond!” – Thomas Heun
“High school is all about finding balance. You have to make sure you have time to have a life outside of school, but you can’t just ignore your responsibilities in school too. I think once you get a good sense of how to do that you’ve learned a valuable life skill.” – Henry Dickinson
“The most important thing to do is follow your passions. Don’t do things just to do them— make sure you are staying true to yourself and how you want to spend your time. Success is what you make of it, and there is no singular formula to finding the right path in life. Be curious, adaptable, and excited for everything to come.” – Raju Rawal
The past four years at MHS have been shaped by the senior class; but as this chapter comes to a close, a new one opens. To the class of 2024: wherever your path takes you, we wish you the best of luck!
