On Sept. 9, Apple came out with its brand new iPhone 17. It’s been a month since the new iPhone came out. However, similar to any other phone, the iPhone 17 is going to have its pros and cons. The pros include a bigger storage space; however, with a bigger storage space, you will still have to pay for more storage after a while. The new iPhone also incorporates a center stage camera that makes your face the center of the screen and is really beneficial for important calls or meetings, an iOS 26 update which gives your phone a glossy screen and lets you change your iMessage backgrounds, and a 120HZ refresh rate that gives you a smoother useable phone experience.
One con of the iPhone 17 is that there is no way to change the dual capture framing setting, which records both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. Apple has stated that they would allow customers to take pictures by pressing on the back of the phone. Another con is weak telephoto camera performance; in other words, the photos will turn out “blurry” depending on how you zoom in with the camera. Finally, there are limited customizable options with the iOS 26, specifically with less options for font size and app colors
Due to the limiting options and higher costs—up to $1,288—the iPhone 17 may not be the best choice if you are in the market for a new phone. In some cases, customers will sue Apple if the features of their new phone are different than they expected. Because of the price consideration when buying a new phone, customers should consider if the iPhone 17 fits their needs and desires.
