Middleton High School’s Global Outreach (GO) Club will be holding their annual GO Dance on March 12 from 8 to 11 p.m. in the fieldhouse and concourse. Masks will not be required as per the expiration of the Dane County Mask Mandate on March 1. Students can buy tickets for $10 on MyPaymentsPlus or $15 at the door. Concessions and water will be available to purchase, as will a coat check. Ticket costs will support the International Justice Mission (IJM), an organization that works to stop human trafficking and slavery.

For the first time, the GO Dance will be themed. The club is starting off with Enchanted Forest, featuring decorative vines, lanterns, a fog machine, and table centerpieces of mason jars with flowers and fairy lights. There will also be a photo backdrop and photo booth with crowns, fairy wings, and other accessories to use.

Treasurer Maeve Carlson (11) and VP Sydney Knutowski (11) test out the fog machine in advisor Erick Johnson’s classroom.

The DJ booth, manned by MHS senior Colin Keenan, will also be decorated with vines.

“We’re really excited to work with [Keenan],” GO President Lily Schintgen said. “He’s been great in the past, and we’re really grateful that he’s able to do this.”

The club has been planning the dance since last November, when they split into three committees: advertising, logistics, and decorations. They started planning by choosing a charity to support.

“We did presentations at the beginning of the year… and everyone just picked a different place they wanted us to donate the funds to. We all voted as a club, and [IJM] won,” said Schintgen.

Vice President Sydney Knutowski (11), Publisher Marley Mladuckey (11), and President Lily Schintgen (12) put together centerpieces for the GO Dance.

Planning the dance is a continuation of GO club’s mission to give back. Earlier in the year, the club held a supply drive that amassed over 2,000 items. The donations were given to Porchlight of Madison, an organization that works to reduce homelessness in Dane County. Following the dance, the club plans to volunteer locally and learn more about IJM as they prepare to donate GO Dance profits.
